K-Pop Reviews

REVIEW: 9MUSES’ ‘Remember’ – ⭐⭐⭐⭐½

9MUSES is one of the most underrated groups that ever graced the K-Pop scene. They are always consistent with the quality of their music, often releasing songs that are usually incredibly catchy or stunningly ethereal. Their newest song, ‘Remember’, falls into the latter category.

It has a synth-pop sound that is rich, layered and utterly satisfying. It comes as a breath of fresh air this year as the scene has been often dominated by rather cute concepts and tropical house styles. It feels like a return to the K-Pop we knew back in 2013, which is what I regard as the golden days of 9MUSES. They now have a style that feels almost unique to them, which is a great achievement in itself.

The mature themes, gloomy atmosphere and breathtaking visuals in the music video also reminds me of their wonderful 2015 song, Sleepless Nights.

9MUSES has yet to disappoint us. After losing many members recently and their future being in question, at least we can say that they never lost their edge. While this comeback will surely fly under the radar and fail to grant them the success they deserve, I will be listening to it non-stop for the rest of the season.

Score: ⭐⭐⭐⭐½
